Fresh water can be hard to find in the lands where the Amazons roam and, unlike the Empire, the Amazons have not developed aqueducts and irrigation systems. This means that the Amazons believe that any natural springs they find are well worth fighting for. When Melila stumbled upon a gushing, crystal clear spring in the mountains on the fringes of the Amazons’ territory, she thought she’d discovered the birthplace of the river goddess herself.
There was only one problem. A magnificent winged unicorn had found the spring first, and was in no mood to share. Normally Melila, a skilled huntress, would simply have slain, flame grilled, and consumed any wild beast that stood in her way, but something about this unicorn was different. It was skittish and nervous, but she could tell it was not afraid of her.
Melila was still mulling over whether or not to kill the unicorn, when a blood-curdling squawk echoed through the mountains and valleys around her, and above her she saw the looming shadow of a monstrous creature, the fearsome Miktomigas. It looked thirsty, and really, really horrible. It had two heads - one of an ox, and the other of a bear - both set upon the body of a giant chicken, with the tail of a whale, and the wings of a bat. Instinctively, Melila leapt upon the unicorn’s back, and they took to the air to fight the Miktomigas together, ultimately defeating the beast with horn, spear, and the most powerful weapon of all; teamwork. Since then, the unicorn has been protecting the Amazons and their water supply, and even does so in the arena. Upon defeat, the last thing the beast does is grant a strong defensive shield to every ally Champion. An excellent buff for large teams.
